Spicy, flavourful sauce with soft silky texture of the fish and richness of taste brought by the added butter. The Slow Fire Chef SE 05 EP 04 : BHETKI FISH IN SPICY TOMATO SAUCE | SPICY TOMATO FISH CURRY | FISH IN SPICY TOMATO GRAVY | FISH RECIPE Bhetki fish in Spicy Tomato Sauce Recipe by Amit Mehra Bhetki 500 gms Onion 1 large - thinly sliced Tomato 2 peeled & sliced Tomato puree 200 ml Turmeric 1 tsp Ajwain seeds 1/2 tsp Cumin powder 1 tsp Garam masala 1/2 tsp Grated ginger 1 tsp Kashmiri chilli powder 1 tsp Hot chilli powder 1/2 tsp Butter 1 generous tsp Sugar 1 tsp Lemon juice 1 tbsp Mint leaves - a handful Green chillies for garnishing Heat oil in two separate pans - about 1 tablespoon each. In the 1st pan add the onions and leave In the second pan add the ajwain seeds, turmeric, ginger, cumin powder, salt, Kashmiri chilli powder, hot chilli powder and tomato puree. Mix well and let it cook for a minute or two then add the lemon juice. Add some sugar. Add the fish when the oil starts showing on top. Turn the fish over and let it cook on slow fire. In the 1st pan, once the onions are brown add the tomato slices along with a little salt. Cover and cook on slow fire till the tomatoes are all mushy. Switch off the heat under the fish. Cover and let it sit. When the onion and tomato is well cooked add the fish with the tomato puree to it. Wash off the remaining masalas in the pan with 3/4 cup warm water and add it all to the 1st pan. Give it a gentle stir. If you want more gravy add a little more water. Add the mint leaves and garam masala and the butter. Add a few green chillies - cover and let it simmer for 2-3 minutes. Serve hot with rice or roti. New Episode, every week. Mostly, on Weekends.
